I grew up in the countryside where it is common that a driver of the local bakery visits every house early in the morning to sell all sorts of different bread, rolls and sweets for breakfast.
After moving to Graz I found out that such a service doesn’t exist in the city – until I found Morgengold
It seems as this service was founded in Germany and is some sort of Franchise concept for local bakery stores.
As I don’t have time to eat breakfast every morning (so I guess I will not go for the subscription-version of Morgengold) but was curious to try that service I decided to order the “Probesendung” for the upcoming weekend.
You can easily sign up for it at the website by filling in your name, address and desired delivery-date.
Shortly after submitting the data I was called by a friendly employee of the local “Morgengold”-bakery who wanted to know all the details like how to get to my flat and so on. She also instructed me to place a bag in front of the door so that the breakfast is “safe”.
Well, the day arrived and – as promised – the breakfast arrived before 8am (standard weekend-delivery-time, 7am during the week) right in front of my door where I placed the bag.
It was filled with a delicious mixture of different types of bread and rolls.
You don’t know in advance what you get with your “Probesendung”. When you go for the subscription-version you can choose from a big “breakfast-menu” on the Morgengold website.
As the weather was great we (Elisabeth and I) enjoyed the free breakfast on the balcony.
All in all I can highly recommend this service as it offers a huge collection of breakfast-stuff at a very fair and reasonable price.
